Dogs across Carson Valley are breathing a sigh of relief and reminding their owners it's almost time for the Dirty Dog Wash.
The Dirty Dog Wash will take place from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. Aug. 26 at Animal Medical Services at 1355 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.
Suggested minimum donation for each dog washed is $10 but any amount is gratefully accepted.
Internationally acclaimed pet and people psychic Terri Jay will be on hand to provide "crossing-over" style readings for $20. You do not even need to have your pet present or a picture available. Jay's readings are a highlight of every benefit she participates in.
Scott Gahagen's Nevada Mobile Music will be on hand to provide music and help keep the doggie games exciting. Doggie musical chairs always provides a hearty chuckle and your pet may win a prize from Max's Pet Supplies.
Donations benefit the non-profit Douglas Animal Welfare Group which works to find homes for adoptable pets sheltered at the Douglas County Animal Shelter. They also improve the quality of life for animals currently sheltered through daily exercise and socialization. DAWG encourages responsible pet ownership through community education, sponsor/coordination of low cost microchip, rabies, spay and neuter clinics.
We will also be accepting donations of new or gently used pet supplies such as crates, collars, leashes, etc., which will be passed along to DAWG and the Douglas County Animal Shelter.
If you can't attend the family gathering, you may drop donations, old towels or dog shampoo by Animal Medical Services before or on the day of the event.
