An injury accident blocked all three northbound lanes at Highway 395 and the Mount Rose Highway at 5:30 a.m. today. The Nevada Highway Patrol is advising the road is open and asking commuters to proceed with caution.

All students planning to participate in extra curricular activities who've yet to attend Douglas High School's drug policy presentation had better show up at 6 p.m. today. The presentation is mandatory for all new student athletes, band members, yearbook students and related operations. At least one parent or guardian has to come along. The National Weather Service is predicting today's high temperature is going to hit 88 degrees with winds running 23 mph.

Can we take a moment here? We've dutifully reported the predicted high temperatures from the Weather Service Web site for the past two months. When it's been hot, they've been dead on, but lately, they've been running about two or three degrees cooler than reality. So don't be surprised if the mercury hits 91 today for real.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program.

If you find it difficult to get a hold of someone today, it's because they're all in meetings.

The branding workshop is going to take up most of the day for businessfolk. At 10 a.m., a joint meeting between the Douglas County Planning Commission and the Airport Advisory Board is expected to last 90 minutes. At 1 p.m. the planning commission has its regular meeting. To top it all off, the Douglas County School Board meets at 3:30 p.m. at Douglas High School.
