Mr. Z said band starts at 9 a.m. sharp on Monday.

And as anyone who has taken music with Bill Zabelsky at Douglas High School knows, "To be early is to be on time. To be on time is to be late."

Band Camp is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 14 -18 and Aug. 21-22 and from 7-9 p.m. on Aug. 23-25.

There will be an hour off for lunch, so students are reminded to bring money or a sack lunch.

A mandatory meeting for all parents of eighth and ninth graders is 7 p.m. on Aug. 25.

The first official day of school for Douglas students is Aug. 28, also known as "Black Monday." Jazz band students start their day at zero period, 6:40 a.m.

The marching band and pageantry won't be performing at the first of Douglas' home games due to the incomplete athletic field, but may be traveling to the second football game.

Zabelsky said the group is preparing a half-time show of music from The Doors, "Light My Fire," "Touch Me" and "Peace Frog/Love Her Madly."
