The Fall sports season is rapidly approaching at Douglas High School.
A number of the teams at the school have been going through voluntary summer workouts in preparation for the upcoming season.
The first official day of practice is Aug. 14. Football practice started Thursday.
Student-athletes must have all sports packet information turned in to the athletic department before tryouts begin. All athletes must be cleared through the athletic department before they will be allowed to try out.

Summer workouts and tryout information is as follows:
Cross country
The team has been running nightly conditioning sessions at 6 p.m. at the high school.
They will meet by the tennis courts at the high school.
Football
Freshman practice runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today.
The junior varsity squad practices at 7 a.m. today.
Golf
The girls' golf team will conduct tryouts Aug. 14-17 at the Genoa Lakes Golf Club (Lakes course) from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Players need their own equipment and must wear proper golf attire.
Girls' Tennis
The team will have tryouts starting Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at the high school tennis courts.
Boys' Tennis
The team will have tryouts starting Aug. 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Douglas High School. Subsequent practices will be at Lampe Park from 4 to 6 p.m starting Tuesdays.
Boys' Soccer
Tryouts are Aug. 14-15 from 6 to 8 a.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the high school. After the first two days, the teams will be broken up into varsity and junior varsity and practice will run from 4 to 6 p.m. the rest of the week.
The following week, the team will practice from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Girls' Soccer
Tryouts are Aug. 14-16 8 to 9 a.m. in the morning and 6 to 7:45 p.m. in the evening.
Volleyball
The varsity team will have tryouts Aug. 14-16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Douglas High gym. Varsity hopefuls will tryout with right-sides and setters on Monday and middles and outsides Tuesday. The team will be combined on Wednesday. Junior varsity and freshmen tryouts are Aug. 16 and 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
