The Nevada Secretary of State released voter totals for the state which show Democrats pulled about 10,000 voters ahead of Republicans for this primary election.
State figures show that 485,378 Nevadans are Democrats, 475,019 are Republicans and 186,948 are independents. Independent Americans are by far the largest minor party in the state with 41,796 registered voters.
Douglas retains its title as a Republican stronghold with the third largest pool of GOP voters in the state behind Clark and Washoe counties. The final count for the primary is 15,686 Republicans, 7568 Democrats, 3,957 independents, 981 Independent Americans, and a smattering of others.
No reason for Republicans to worry statewide until the general election, because the closed primary system only allows each party to vote on its own candidates and independents.
