Sierra Crest Academy is having an orientation event for students, parents and teachers to get acquainted for the new school year from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 22.
Besides welcoming the new teachers and students, videos and photos will be shown to learn what project-based learning is all about to promote enrollment. Appetizers, salads, casseroles, hot dogs, desserts and beverages will be served.
As an independent public charter school, Sierra Crest Academy is sponsored by the Douglas County School District. Any student from Nevada may attend. There are 60 students enrolled but the charter school has room for up to 85 students in grades 7-10 for the 2006-2007 school year.
