Carson Valley's breakthrough year on the Northern Nevada Junior Golf Association circuit ended on a high note last week as Greg Coleman claimed the title in the boys' 13-14 level 3 division at the Tournament of Champions in Dayton.
Coleman, who won the Nevada State Junior Championship earlier this summer, topped the tournament field in Dayton with an even-par 72.
The tournament was open to any athletes who'd won an event this summer on the Northern Nevada circuit.
The Valley was well-represented.
Douglas High golfer Troy Shields tied for fifth in the boys' 15-17 division and Garrett Gingell took fourth in the level 2 13-14 division.
Bethany Wurster and Heather Henderson took second and third respectively in the girls' 13-17 division.
A number of youth golfers from around Northern Nevada were also recently selected to play in the Reno-Tahoe Open pro-am event next week.
Shields, Coleman and Henderson got to play a practice round at D'Andrea in Reno earlier this week and will compete at Montreaux next week.
