More people voted early than at any other time in the last four years, according to Clerk-Treasurer Barbara Griffin-Reed.

Early voting for today's primary election hit 3,529 ballots cast, more than in 2004, with 3,032 ballots cast, and double the last off-presidential race in 2002 when 1,556 voters cast ballots.

Of the 982 absentee ballots mailed out, 682 had been returned as of Monday morning.

Voting begins at 7 a.m. today iin the precints.

Recordcourier.com will be carrying results as we get them tonight. Griffin-Reed said early voting and absentee results will be available first.

Work on the roundabout has another two weeks to go. State highway workers were wiring up the lighting system for the Minden traffic circle at Highway 88 and County Road on Monday.

The turn lane from Highway 395 onto Highway 88 has been the hold-up, according to Nevada Department of Transportation spokesman Scott Magruder.

Magruder said the entire thing should be open by Aug. 25, before Douglas High School returns on Aug. 28.

Not much different going on with the weather. High temperatures are predicted to be in the upper 80s or lower 90s with lots of sunshine during most of the week.
