1936-2006
A memorial service for Virginia Lee Broersma, 70, a 38-year Minden resident, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Hilltop Community Church.
Mrs. Broersma died Aug. 2, 2006, in Carson City.
She was born April 25, 1936, in San Jose, Calif., to John and Myrtle Stephens.
She married William Broersma on Jan. 14, 1983, in Reno.
Before moving to Minden, Mrs. Broersma lived in San Jose.
She retired from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles.
She belonged to the Red Hat Hotties of Minden and the Ladies Sewing/Coffee Club.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edgar Stephens and daughter Lyn Janese Walkama.
Among her survivors are her husband; daughters LeeAnn Rasner and Dana Westre; son, Brian Walkama; stepsons Jim, Bill, Mike and Eric Broersma; stepdaughter, Missy Page; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ron Wood Family Resource Center or the Do Drop Inn.

Wilhelm Huf
1924-2004
A memorial service will be 3-5 p.m. Aug. 27, 2006, at the Genoa Mormon Station Gazebo for Wilhelm Huf, 81, who died at his home in Minden on Aug. 16, 2006.
Mr. Huf was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Nurnberg, Germany, to Jacob and Emma (Schmidt) Huf. He married Nanny Lubke June 28, 1947, in Cuxhaven, Germany. He had a high school education. He served aboard a German submarine during World War II and later aboard a British Royal Navy Mine Sweeper.
He lived in the Carson Valley for the past 51 years and worked as a tool and die designer for Bently Nevada Corp. for 35 years.
He was a founding member of the Johnson Lane Volunteer Fire Station, charter member of the Douglas County Ski Club, Pony Express member, Santa Claus for the Lions Club for many years; sponsor and pit crew for Amy Barnes of D&A Racing, VW off-road racing, Mint 400, Sahara 500, Baja 1000 and a member of the Shark Hunters Submarine Veterans organization.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bruno Huf on Nov. 17, 1979 in Bend, Ore.; his sister Emma Balling; brothers Sepp and Rudy Huf. He is survived by his wife Nanny Huf of Minden; son Rony Huf of Minden; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary. Cremation to take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory, Carson City.
Betty Elizabeth Koehler
1913-2006
A funeral for Betty Elizabeth Koehler, 92, a 30-year Gardnerville resident, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville. A viewing will be two hours prior to the service.
Mrs. Koehler died Aug. 18, 2006, at the Tahoe Pacific Hospital in Reno. She was born Sept. 29, 1913, in Weston, Colo., to Phillip and Mary Tamburello.
She married Charles Koehler July 18, 1933 in Denver.
She was a real estate agent and a homemaker.
She belonged to St. Gall Catholic Church and spent time at the senior center and Carson Valley Inn.
She supported the Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society, veterans associations, and the Senior Center Meals on Wheels program.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; by sisters Margie Moore, Rose Tamburello and Marian Griffey all of Denver; and by brothers Pete and George Tamburello all of Denver.
Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Joann Koehler of San Leandro, Calif.; son James Koehler of Lake of the Pines, Calif.; daughter Marlene Koehler of Gardnerville; sisters Jeanne Skinner and Teresa Tamburello, both of Colorado; brothers Ray, Chris, Joseph and John Tamburello, all of Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 28 nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Sunset Mausoleum in El Cerreta, Calif.

Domenick Melocchi
1925-2006
A memorial service for long-time Minden resident Domenick Melocchi is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 20, 2006, at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville
Mr. Melocchi died Aug. 16 at the home of his daughter Paula Smith in Omaha, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his son Domenick.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan and five children; Paula Smith of Omaha, Neb.; Bruce Bohman of Gardnerville; Nick Melocchi of Studio City, Calif.; Jill Cushing of Gardnerville; Marc Melocchi of Studio City, Calif. Domenick also has seven beautiful grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
