Douglas County Senior Services will host the ninth annual Northern Nevada Senior Games, Sept. 9-16 at various locations in Douglas County and Carson City.
The senior games are open to all men and women 50 years of age and older, regardless of state of residence. Age groups will be separated with each 5 years of age. Winners will be awarded Olympic-style medals for first-, second-, and third-place finishers.
The registration fee is $15 per athlete for a single event, $25 per athlete for two or more events and $60 per person for the golf event.
Registration deadline is today, however if openings are available you can still sign up on the day of the event.
The schedule of events is as follows: Weightlifting (Sept. 9), Track & Field (Sept. 10), Golf (Sept. 12), Bowling (Sept. 13), Billiards (Sept. 14), Pistol Shoot, (Sept. 15) and Swimming (Sept. 16).

On Sept. 24, Young At Heart Senior Citizen Club is sponsoring a fundraiser for the Northern Nevada Senior Games with a Senior Games Bingo. Doors open at noon. Early birds start at 1 p.m. Regular games start at 1:30 p.m.
Early birds are $4 for four games and $15 per person for 13 games. Open to the public - Must be 21 years old and older to play. For more information, call the senior center at 783-6455.
