The Douglas boys' soccer squad sure made a statement early on.

Tigers' coach Milko Vasquez purposely scheduled six of his squad's first seven games this year against playoff teams from last season.

Through the first four of those, the Tigers are perfect.

Douglas made the long trip up to Elko Friday for its season-opening tournament and blanked Spring Creek, which finished last season ranked No. 10 by the Sierra Nevada Sports Media Poll, 4-0.

Later on, the Tigers topped state qualifer and last year's No. 2 team Elko 7-4 in an offensive shootout.

On Saturday, Douglas beat up on last season's No. 8 team Fallon, 5-1 and closed out an impressive opening weekend with a 3-1 victory over 2A playoff qualifier White Pine.

The Tigers next take on Spanish Springs today at 3 p.m. at Douglas High.
