Several Genoa merchants have sweetened the pot for holiday shoppers by offering special sales prices and the chance to win a free weekend getaway and other prizes.
Saturday is designated as Shop Genoa day.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., a discount will be given at these participating businesses: Cowboys & Angels, Dancing Deer, Davis Gallery, Genoa Country Store, Genoa Trading Company, Rustic Romance, Sugar Plum Bakery and Tahoe Ridge Winery.
A 10 percent discount on any regularly priced item will be given just for mentioning the sale.
For every $10 spent in one of the above Genoa businesses, shoppers will have a chance to enter the drawing for prizes.
The drawing will be held at 5 p.m. at the Genoa Country store.
Winners need not be present.
Horse and carriage rides are available throughout the day.
