Velma May Langdon
1917-2006
A memorial service for Velma May Langdon, 89, a 17-year Minden resident, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Walton's Douglas County Mortuary, 1478 Fourth St. in Minden.
Mrs. Langdon died Nov. 12, 2006, in Carson City. She was born April 22, 1917, in Terlton, Okla., to Walter and Icie Kaufman.
Before moving to Minden, Mrs. Langdon lived in California. She was a homemaker, and taught classes in color and flower arrangement. She was involved with the Christmas Bazaar for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. They walked the Great Wall of China for their 50th wedding anniversary. She also enjoyed knitting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Langdon, in 1992 and by son Charles Langdon in 1958.
Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Tom and Carole Langdon of San Jose, Calif.; grandchildren Scott, Marci, Darla and Dorothy and seven great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary. Burial will take place at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Doris Ann Miller
1935-2006
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Fish Springs Volunteer Fire Department for Doris Ann Miller, 71, who died at her Gardnerville home Nov. 24, 2006.
Mrs. Miller was born May, 11, 1935, in Riverside, Calif., to John Dee Arnold and Georgia A. Shelton. After high school she married Eldon Miller and lived in Yucaida, Calif., before moving to Gardnerville 30 years ago. She enjoyed gardening, reading and raising horses, dancing and music.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia Lowman, Feb. 29, 1990, in California, husband Eldon Miller on Sept. 18, 1994 and her daughter Roxann Bennett Jan. 18, 1985.
She is survived by her son, Randy Bennett and daughter and son-in-law Jody and Bill Hutt; as well as grandchildren Amy Bennett, Jessica Bennett, Robert Bennett, Cameron Hart and two great-grandchildren Nikko and Paris Jenkins. She is also survived by her father John Dee Arnold, her sister Deboraha Chavez and brothers Robert and John Arnold.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City. Memorial donations may be made to any animal shelter of your choice.
