The Christmas season brings many different needs. For those unable to buy groceries, food is the biggest need. The Carson Valley Community Food Closet distributes food to qualified individuals throughout the year. During the holiday season the need can be the greatest. Check your pantry for extra canned goods and non-perishable items and then look for the nearest donation barrel.
Where can you find these barrels? Go to the Minden Village: Douglas Disposal, AG Edwards, South Lake Tahoe Mortgage, Charles Schwab, Cold Stone Creamery and the Business Bank of Nevada. Other locations are: Ironwood CenterÐMinden Pizza Factory, Hamdogs Restaurant, Zephyr Cove Post Office (Kingsbury Grade) and Stateline Post Office (near Safeway), Douglas County Comptroller and Sheriff offices, Stodick Estates SouthÐmodel home, Muscle Manipulators Massage, 1416 Sugar Maple Ave. and World Gym in Minden and North Carson.
Just place your canned goods in a plastic bag and drop them at one of the locations above. The food will be sorted and stocked at the Food Closet for distribution to qualified families and individuals. Your donation will make a huge contribution to this holiday food drive.
Contributions and cash donations are accepted at the Food Closet at 1255 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville Monday-Wednesday and Friday from 1-4 p.m. Information, call Eileen Boettiger, director or Donna Kurtz, assistant director at 782-3711.
