Four people were arrested in two separate methamphetamine sales to Douglas County undercover officers which yielded 136 grams of the controlled substance with a street value of $13,000.
Yolanda Alvardo, 22, of North Highlands, Calif., was arrested Dec. 1 in a Stateline casino parking lot after a reported sale of 56 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of more than $5,000. She was charged with felony trafficking.
Alvardo is in Douglas County Jail on $100,000 bail.
Three men were arrested Wednesday in the parking lot of Old Navy in north Douglas County after delivering more than 80 grams of methamphetamine to undercover officers.
Arrested were Felipe Ledezma-Aguilar, 26, Carson City; Ignacio Rodriquez-Ibarra, 29, Carson City; and Felipe Moreno-Renteria, 24, Dayton.
They were each charged with felony trafficking and conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances act.
Rodriquez-Ibarra and Moreno-Renteria remained in custody on $110,000 bail each. Ledezma-Aguilar's bail has been set at $123,000 due to a Carson City warrant of arrest for failing to appear on a felony DUI charge and a probation violation.
Trafficking with 28 grams or more is a category A felony, the highest level. Penalties range from life in prison with eligibility for parole after 10 years; or, for a definite term of 25 years with eligibility for parole after 10 years; and up to a $500,000 fine.
The conspiracy charge is punishable by up to five years in prison.
"These recent arrests highlight the ever-increasing problem of methamphetamine use in our community," said sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Tom Mezzetta.
"It's important to keep in mind that it's not just the drug abuse affected by the use of illegal substances. The entire community suffers as the vast majority of crimes committed in our neighborhoods are done so to facilitate the purchase of these substances," he said.
