Are you ready for this year's "drive-by fooding?" On Friday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Carson Valley Inn will again be hosting our annual Share Your Holiday Food Drive, sponsored by KTVN Channel 2 to benefit the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.

Last year more than 32,000 pounds of food and $21,000 in monetary donations were generously given by our community. Three other sites were also collecting for Reno and Carson City. Altogether about 100,000 pounds was collected during the 12-hour food drive. Isn't it amazing that more than one third of the total pounds of food collected for Northern Nevada was donated right here in Carson Valley and all 32,000 pounds was redistributed right here in Douglas County?

So here is the challenge Carson Valley. Can we top last year's totals? We can do it.

Bring your kids, bring your parents, you can even bring your Aunt Belle, but bring some non-perishable food to CVI on Friday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. And while you're there you can catch some of these great entertainers and attractions that will be helping us get into the holiday spirit:

n 6 a.m. Relaxed Fit, a men's quartet;

n 6:30-9 a.m. a hot air balloon display by Whit Landvater;

n 9 a.m. Sunshine and Rainbows Daycare presentation;

n 9:30 a.m. Sunflower Learning Center presentation;

Come share your food and share in the holiday fun.
