Douglas Disposal drivers will be picking up food along with the trash this week as part of their 12th annual food drive. Anyone wishing to participate need only leave a plastic bag of food out with the trash on their pickup day. Folks may also drop off food at the Douglas Disposal Office, 1653 Lucerne St., in Minden Village.
Meanwhile, the big Channel 2 Drive-by food collection will be Friday at the Carson Valley Inn.
Remember that big storm that was looming before the weekend. Well loom was about all it did. There was a light dusting of snow in the Valley on Sunday morning, which I guess fulfilled the National Weather Service's 60 percent chance of precipitation. Forecasters are saying we're in for another potential for snow this coming weekend. According to a special weather statement, a cold low pressure system from the Gulf of Alaska is headed this way, and it doesn't care who's naughty and who's nice. Snow levels are expected to lower to the Valley floors on Saturday and temperatures will drop into the teens.
Today's weather is predicted to be partly cloudy with a high of 48. There's a slight chance of rain today and tonight. At sunrise, the temperature is 20 degrees in Genoa and 24 in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
