The Court Appointed Special Advocates serve as representatives for children in legal situations where the child might go without a voice otherwise. CASAs are volunteers in the best sense of the word. Stateline resident and Lt. Gov.-elect Brian Krolicki will be moving into the governor's office but he won't be chief executive, yet. Brian was trying to stay in the office he's been in for the past eight years as treasurer. However, the new treasurer wasn't willing to give up the space. Gov.-elect Jim Gibbons offered Krolicki offices in the Capitol used by previous governors.
There is no clearer indication of what a mess our roads are than the results of having Highway 395 near Ironwood closed for five hours. Southbound traffic was backed up for miles on Highway 395. People were trying to turn onto Muller Lane and then make a left, while others turned on Genoa Lane and ended up keeping the Muller Lane folks from making their turns. If we don't find a way to improve the traffic flow through the Valley, a decade down the road, every day will look like Tuesday.
There's a breeze blowing south this morning and it's warm out at 6:35 a.m. with the temperature at 40 degrees. It will stay breezy until Thursday when it will become just plain windy as a strong low pressure system moves into the northwest, sucking warm air north like a vacuum cleaner. According to a National Weather Service high wind watch issued this morning, we're looking at a 20-40 mph wind with gusts of up to 60 mph, so hang onto your hat. The weather professionals have backed off on earlier predictions that this storm will make a lot of snow. We may see some in the Valleys, and we may not.
