The Douglas High boys basketball team ended a frustrating week at the George Maldonado Classic at Galena with a 62-51 loss to Lehi, Utah.

Douglas (6-4) lost all four games it played in the event. The Tigers had respectable showings against nationally ranked Artesia of Lakewood, Calif., and Arlington Country Day of Florida before dropping its last two games in the event.

"It's a privilege to be in this tournament," Douglas coach Rob Streeter said. "We saw some great competition. Obviously we're a little disappointed going 0-for."

Douglas looked noticably tired in Friday's loss to Orem, Utah after giving two inspired efforts against Artesia and Arlington Country Day.

Against Lehi Saturday, Douglas trailed 25-23 at halftime and 44-38 after three quarters before Lehi pulled away at the foul line down the stretch.

"It was by far our most disappointing defensive effort of the year," Streeter said.

The Tigers were able to go on a 12-0 run in the second quarter to pull within two. Kevin Emm hit a 3-pointer, Jared Trowbridge hit the back end of a 3-point play and Keith Olson had two dunks to key the run.

Olson scored 15 points and Mike Gransbery added 13 points for Douglas, which opens Sierra League play at home on Thursday against Damonte Ranch.

Douglas led twice in the third quarter, thanks in part to some sharp outside shooting from Gransbery.

Olson was named to the all-tournament team along with Galena's Luke Babbitt and Eric Maupin.
