A 64-year-old man was killed Thursday afternoon and two people injured when the victim apparently pulled out on Highway 395 from Stephanie Way and was struck by a northbound vehicle.
The accident occurred at 2:23 p.m.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen said identities of the dead and injured had not been released.
"The vehicle had been traveling west on Stephanie," Allen said. "At the stop sign, the driver failed to yield and pulled out in front of the northbound vehicle which struck the driver's door."
The victim's wife and the 19-year-old male driver of the northbound vehicle were taken by helicopter to a Reno hospital.
The 19-year-old had to be cut from his vehicle.
The traffic accident was the second fatal crash on Highway 395 in 10 days.
Marvin Kirk, 75, and his wife Pauline, 82, of Minden, died Dec. 12 in a three-car accident near the Highway 88 intersection.
The Stephanie Way intersection was the scene of a fatal accident in July 2005 that claimed the life of 17-year-old Bridget Chambers.
The Nevada Department of Transportation is installing a signal at Highway 395 and Stephanie Way after 6,000 people signed petitions that the intersection was unsafe.
