County OKs redevelopment deal

Douglas County commissioners voted 4-1 in favor of a $24.7 million development deal along the Carson-Douglas line.

Only commissioner Dave Brady voted against the measure, which would allow Riverview developer Jay Timon to build a 30,000-square-foot retail center on 4.8 acres.

The project is designed to stimulate development of 100 acres of land owned by Carson City car dealers Michael Hohl and Dink Cryer by bringing sewer, water and roads to the property.

No money would be paid out until the retail space is built and at least 25,000 square feet is leased out, according to the county. Then the money would be paid out over several years from funds raised by the redevelopment district.
