Leon Birmingham
1917-2006
A memorial service is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Carson Valley Christian Church, 1095 Stephanie Way, Minden, for Leon Birmingham, 89, who died Dec. 15, 2006, in Minden.
Mr. Birmingham, a 40-year resident of Northern Nevada, was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Sawyerville, Quebec, Canada, to Edward and Flossie Birmingham.
Before moving to the Carson City/Reno area, Mr. Birmingham lived in Vermont and northern New York state. He attended high school in Woodstock, Vt., and served in the army during World War II. He was married to Hazel Birmingham for 59 years and spent most of his life in the logging and construction industry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents as well as his son Frank Birmingham and his brother Reggie Birmingham.
He is survived by his daughters Judy Collette of Carson City and Nancy Pagni of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; his son Richard Birmingham and his wife Sharon Birmingham of MInden; his sisters Made Knudsen of Bridgewater Corners, Vt., Winnie Pearce, St. Cloud, Fla., and Eva Bernier of Dayton Beach, Fla.
He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Frances Birmingham of Beaverton, Ore., 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. Burial will take place at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
