"How Nevada's Written History Began in Carson Valley" is the first in a new monthly lecture series presented by the Douglas County Historical Society. The lecture will be held on Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville. Lectures are free and open to the public. "How Nevada's Written History Began in Carson Valley" will be presented by Nevada State Archive Manager Jeff Kintop. Lectures will be held on the second Thursday of each month, January through May. The series of free lectures has been organized by local author, Robert Ellison.
Student History Day
The Douglas County Historical Society is offering a new program at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville called Student History Day, to be held the first Saturday of every month, beginning Jan. 6. Students will be admitted free if accompanied by an adult. Guided tours of the museum will be led by costumed guides at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.

New look, exhibits
The Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center has several new exhibits to offer all visitors along with brand new carpet throughout the museum. New carpet, new exhibits for a new year.
