An 18-year-old Topaz Ranch Estates student was arrested Dec. 20 at the Douglas High School parking lot after he admitted snorting cocaine in his vehicle.
Cody Ray Crosetti, a DHS senior, was jailed on $5,000 bail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Crosetti was observed by a school official using cocaine in his vehicle. Deputies, utilizing the drug-detecting dog Lucy, found cocaine in the ashtray.
Crosetti reportedly told deputies he had used cocaine at lunch time. Deputies found .4 of a gram in his vehicle.
n An 85-year-old woman was bilked out of $3,000 after a man who identified himself as her grandson got her to send money to bail him out of jail in Vancouver, Canada, for illegal fishing.
The woman said she believed the caller was her grandson, so she authorized the transfer of funds. She became concerned when the man called back and she asked him questions he couldn't answer and he hung up on her.
The victim tried to stop the transfer but it was too late.
She told deputies she had no idea how the caller had access to any information about her or her grandson.
