The Little Miss Douglas County Pageant will take place Feb. 25. The pageant will be hosted by the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department and the Dance Workshop Performing Arts Center, 1697 County Road in Minden.
Applications for the competition may be obtained at Douglas County Parks and Recreation, 1327 Waterloo Lane, across from Lampe Park. Submit applications by Feb. 18 to avoid a late entry fee charge of $10.
All entries must be at the Dance Workshop by Feb. 24 in order to participate. This pageant will be an opportunity for girls in Douglas County and surrounding areas to gain confidence and show off their favorite talent. Pageants are fun, positive competitions with gifts and prizes for all contestants.
This year Miss Lake Tahoe Nevada Annie Austin and Miss Nevada Outstanding Teen Raechel Prosser will share the duties as emcees for the Little Miss Douglas County pageant. All contestants will compete within their age group for the following titles:
n Baby Miss, 2-3 years
n Wee Miss, 4-5 years
n Tiny Miss, first through third grade
n Little Miss, fourth through sixth grade
n Junior Miss, seventh through ninth
n Teen Miss, 10th through 11th grade
The pageant will be a three-phase competition where the entrants will have an opportunity to show off their best party dress, demonstrate their favorite talent and talk to a panel of judges. The contestants will be judged on personality, poise, speaking ability, eye contact, neatness, dress and talent. All contestants will also have the opportunity to submit photos for Miss Photogenic. Two to 5 year olds will compete in Party Dress only.
Each girl is encouraged to have fun, meet new friends and enjoy a new experience. All contestants will receive a gift. The winner in each division will receive a tiara, banner and flowers. A pre-pageant meeting and walk-through will take place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Dance Workshop.
