Doug Benson
1943-2006
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville for Doug Benson, 62, who died at his Gardnerville home Feb. 1, 2006.
Mr. Benson was born Feb. 24, 1943, in Goodell, Iowa, to Orville Shahan and Evelyn Miller. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and worked in communications for GTE. He was previously from Mammoth Lakes, Calif., before moving to Gardnerville. He married Linda Manning, May 14, 1990, in Virginia City. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Judy Winard. He is survived by his wife Linda Benson of Gardnerville, daughter Michelle Benson of Mammoth Lakes, Calif.; son Michael Benson and his wife Louisa of Reno; stepmother Mickie Shahan of Iowa, grandchildren Alicia Benson and Brenda Benson; brother Tony Benson of Lubbock, Texas, two nieces and one nephew.

Donald Keen McIntosh
1921-2006
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, 1788 Pinenut Road in Gardnerville for Donald Keen McIntosh, 84, who died Jan. 29, 2006, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno.
Mr. McIntosh was born May 27, 1921, in Fowler, Calif., to William and Louise McIntosh. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, before he was inducted into the Army during World War II. He served in the reserves and attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was director of transportation for the Mt. Diablo School District in Calif., until he retired.
Mr. McIntosh lived in Walnut Creek before moving to Gardnerville in 1976. He was a pilot and a member of the Airport Advisory Committee and a volunteer Douglas County deputy sheriff. He was an avid snow- and water-skier, backpacker and hiker who spent many hours in the mountains with wife Stella and his donkey "Jenny." He married his third wife, Stella Louise McIntosh, in Minden in 1999.
Mr. McIntosh was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Ann Dreyer McIntosh, second wife Ruth Parks McIntosh. He is survived by his wife Stella Louise McIntosh; two sisters, Pat Mackay Rihn and Lynn Auber-Buffington Griffith, and a brother, Bill McIntosh. His surviving children are Donna Jean Cappuccio of Antioch, Calif., Laura Kathleen Lundy of San Martin, Calif., and Curtis (Randy) Keen McIntosh of Walnut Creek, Calif.; grandchildren, Davin and Mike Lundy, Melissa and Chris McIntosh, one great-grandson Maverick Lundy, step children include Barbara Manley, Robert Parks, Barbara Prudkova, Kathleen Prudek, Tom Prudek, Fred Prudek and numerous step grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4 -6 p.m. Sunday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home. Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville.
