Floyd Scott Breckenridge, Jr., 76, a 10-year resident of Gardnerville, died Feb. 17, 2006, in Gardnerville.
Mr. Breckenridge was born July 22, 1929, in Carnegie, Okla., to Floyd Scott and Alice Marie Breckenridge Sr. He graduated from the New Mexico Military Institute, Jan. 24, 1953, and married his wife Gail on the same day in Roswell, N.M. He was a 20-year commissioned officer in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired as a major. He was vice president and manager of Home Savings of America for 16 years. He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal on June 20, 1968, while serving in South Vietnam. The Breckenridges were residents of Mountainview, Calif., before moving to Gardnerville. He is survived by his wife Gail S. Breckenridge of Gardnerville; his son Michael Jon Breckenridge of Vista, Calif., daughter Katherine Scott Ziegler of San Andreas, Calif., and one sister Marilyn McCann of Amarillo, Texas. He had three grandchildren.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
Rachel Lynn French
1986-2006
A funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Valley Christian Fellowship, Meadowdale Center in Gardnerville for Rachel Lynn French, 19, who died Feb. 20, 2006, as a result of a car accident in Carson City.
Miss French was born Nov. 24, 1986, in Carson City to Roger and Barbara Rowe French. Formerly a Gardnerville resident, she has lived in Stagecoach for a year. She was a member of the Valley Christian Fellowship church in Gardnerville.
Among her survivors are her parents, of Stagecoach; brothers Roger French, Jr. and Richard French, both of Reno; aunts Roselee Kneighbaum, Karen Vaughn, Diane Grace of Sacramento, Vicky Courington of Adrian Mich., and Judy Mays of Los Banos, Calif; uncles Bill French and Roger Quick of Sacramento, and Lanny Qiuck of Rockford, Ill.; niece Kadence French and nephew Trevor French, both of Reno.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith, Carson City. There will be a viewing at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith 6-8 p.m. today. Burial will take place at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden following the funeral service.
Roy Lee Simpson
1926-2006
A memorial graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Feb. 26 at Walton's Carson Gardens in Carson City for Roy Lee Simpson, 79, who died Feb. 22, 2006, in Carson City.
Mr. Simpson was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Wilmington, Calif., to Robert Lee and Gladys Faye Embry Simpson. He was in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He married Nora Simpson in 1977 and lived in Bullhead, Ariz., prior to moving to Gardnerville in 2003.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nora Simpson. He is survived by his son Leonard Simpson and daughter-in-law Liane and his daughter Joanne Spillman. Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary with interment at Walton's Carson Gardens.
