No sign of foul play in Bodie man's death

A Bodie Flats man was found dead along the road heading toward his home on New Year's Day.

John Allan Ziemer, 65, was found dead by a neighbor on Courtland Road, according to Sgt. Tom Mezzetta of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Mezzetta said Ziemer's vehicle broke down near Highway 395 and he appeared to be walking home when he collapsed.

"He had a prior medical history of cardiovascular disease," Mezzetta said.

"There was nothing at the scene that indicated suspicious circumstances. He had his money and wallet, so there was no robbery and no trauma to the body."
