A Lutheran fraternal organization is matching funds raised at a spaghetti feed to be held tonight at the CVIC Hall in Minden to benefit Ruhenstroth resident Corey Hawker.
Linda L. Reid, community service team director, said the Douglas/Alpine chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is matching funds raised at tonight's spaghetti feed, silent auction and motorcycle raffle.
Thrivent will provide 50 cents for every dollar raised up to $2,000.
"Thrivent is a fraternal organization that supports community efforts with time and money," Reid said. "The local chapter is pleased to be able to help this young man with medical expenses."
Hawker, a Douglas High School graduate and plumber for the Douglas County School District, received a severe brain injury when his motorcycle collided with a dune buggy at Sand Mountain on Oct. 29.
His wife, Jennifer, said he is improving and she hopes will return home from a California care center by the end of January. The event is 5-8 p.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden. The cost for the dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children 9 and younger. Raffle tickets are $10 each.
Tickets for the raffle are available at the following locations:
