Teen admits to trafficking in cocaine

A 19-year-old Minden man admitted Tuesday that he sold 28 grams of cocaine to an undercover informant.

Chad Grayot is set for sentencing Feb. 28 after he pleaded guilty to trafficking in a controlled substance.

He faces up to 15 years in prison and a $100,000 fine, but also is eligible for probation for providing "substantial assistance" to authorities.

Grayot was arrested Dec. 21 with two others.

He said the transaction took place Dec. 7 in the Scolari's parking lot in Gardnerville.

n A South Lake Tahoe man who has two prior prison sentences for battering police officers pleaded guilty Tuesday to kicking two Douglas County deputies even though he says he can't remember what happened.

Brandon Baehler was arrested New Year's Eve in the Stateline casino core and charged with battery on an officer, a gross misdemeanor.

The two deputies were uninjured.

Baehler told District Judge Dave Gamble he blacked out and can't remember what happened.

Prosecutor Mark Jackson said Baehler, 24, was fighting with a casino security guard about 8:30 p.m. New Year's Eve when the deputies intervened.

Baehler was combative and abusive during the booking process.

One of the deputies reported striking Baehler in the back in an effort to handcuff him.

As they walked the suspect to a temporary booking station, deputies said Baehler "mule-kicked" them in an effort to knock them off balance.

When he refused to cooperate, deputies carried him to the booking station. He was outfitted with a "spit hood" when he tried to expectorate in deputies' faces.

Jackson said Baehler has several arrests in California for battery on officers and served two prison terms.

He is in Douglas County Jail on $25,000 bail. He faces up to one year in Douglas County Jail and a $2,000 fine.

Gamble set sentencing for March 3.

n A 52-year-old former Home Depot cashier was charged with felony embezzlement.

Susan Lynn Monroe of Minden was arrested Jan. 14, accused of accepting fictitious merchandise returns.

The store allegedly had videotape of Monroe making the irregular transactions in December.

She was accused of taking a gift card and pulling receipts from trash cans and the cash register for items and cash returns worth $304.11 which she kept.

Monroe claimed that she found the gift card.
