Fallon man charged in drunken driving

A Fallon man was charged with driving under the influence after an off-duty Douglas County deputy observed the 28-year-old motorist driving erratically.

Arlo Neal Brady was charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested Jan. 16 at 6:05 a.m. near Highway 395 and Ironwood.

The off-duty deputy said he observed the vehicle with no license plates speeding and driving in the middle of the southbound lane of Highway 395. The vehicle pulled into a gas station parking lot, but sped out as the deputy approached.

The vehicle finally pulled over and the arresting officer said the suspect kept falling asleep during the interview. When asked if he knew where he was, Brady reportedly said, "Reno."

His blood-alcohol content was tested at .146, nearly twice the legal limit of .08 for driving in Nevada.

n A 26-year-old Gardnerville woman reported that someone tried to ring up unauthorized charges totaling nearly $9,000 on her credit card.

The victim told deputies she checked her online banking and discovered withdrawals totaling more than $250.

A second check revealed withdrawals of $6,431.51 and $2,286.61 from locations in Greece. She said she was contacted on the telephone by a woman purporting to be a bank representative who asked for her Social Security number.

She refused to give out the information and said the woman hung up when the victim asked for a callback number.

n The owner of a residence under construction in Chichester Estates reported a break-in Jan. 18.

The 41-year-old woman told deputies she entered the home on Cardiff and said the thermostat was at 94 degrees. She discovered a broken living room window and muddy footprints covering the white carpet.

Deputies tracked footprints to a backyard fence.

n The Douglas County Sheriff's Office reported seven contacts for domestic violence Jan. 11-17.

There were four contacts for verbal domestics, two arrest for domestic battery and one referral to the district attorney for prosecution.

One juvenile witnessed domestic violence and two juveniles were suspects in verbal domestics.

The Family Support Council submitted three requests for anti-stalking and harassment orders with three approvals.

Connie Richardson, sheriff's office domestic violence prevention coordinator, said the average range is 10-12 per week for this time of year. The range for children witnessing domestic violence is 7-9 per week with juvenile suspects at 0-2 per week.
