Fay Lois Dykes


1919-2006


Fay Lois Dykes, 87, a resident of Gardnerville, died Jan. 4, 2006, at the home of her daughter, Joanie Christl. Mrs. Dykes lived in Gardnerville for seven years.


A native of Porterville, Calif., she worked at Smith's Drugs until she was 80 years old. She was a wonderful homemaker and grandmother.


She was preceded in death by he husband, Carson C. Dykes Sr., one son Johnny Dykes and two sisters Roberta Durham and Alice Garrison. She is survived by one son, Carson Dykes Jr. of Carson City and one daughter, Joanie Christl of Gardnerville; one sister Phyllis Sutton of Bakersfield, Calif.; five grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.


A chapel service took place Jan. 10 at Myers Chapel in Porterville, Calif. Memorial donations may be made to the Lung Cancer Research Center or Northern Nevada Alzheimer's Research Center.




Warren G. Knieriem


1927-2006


A memorial service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Tahoe Catholic Church in Zephyr Cove for Warren G. Knieriem, 78, who died Jan. 17, 2006, in Reno. A Rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m.


Mr. Knieriem was born March 24, 1927, in Redding, Pa., to Warren and Lucy Kasander Knieriem. He married Charleen Knieriem on Nov. 25, 1950, in Los Angeles, Calif. He was a firefighter for the state of California and served in the U.S. Coast Guard.


He belonged to Our Lady of Tahoe Men's Fellowship, Cottonwood Homeowners Association, Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce and Pinewild Homeowners Association. A four-year resident of Gardnerville, he was previously from Fair Oaks, Calif.


He was preceded in death by his son, David Knieriem. He is survived by his wife, Charleen Knieriem of Gardnerville, sons Chris Knieriem of Reno and Steve Knieriem of Citrus Heights, Calif.; daughter Mary and husband Ken Taylor of Auburn, Calif.; his sister Betsy Hook of St. George, Utah, as well as nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville.


Inurnment will take place at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Citrus Heights, Calif. The family requests any memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association in Warren Knieriem's name.
