A new community of 138 homes is going up in Minden.
Syncon Homes showed off model plans for their new housing development called La Costa at Monte Vista this week.
There are 71 units planned for the first stage of the development with 67 more to be built in the next four years.
"It will look like a Tuscan village," said Georgana Urton, community manager of La Costa homes. "The homes are an Italian/Mediterranean style with tile roofs and outdoor living spaces."
Urton said the home sizes range from 2,200 to 3,400 square feet with one- and two-story plans available.
"The base prices go from $460,000 to $590,000," she said. "More for options. We plan to release four homes per month. There's been lots of interest - lots of local people are interested as well as people from California and Lake Tahoe."
"The Arpeggio series backs up to Martin Slough and the project contains community areas," Urton said. "Parks will be dedicated to the town of Minden when they're completed."
Carol Kiel, director of sales and marketing, said they have just broken ground on the model homes and an active pre-sale program is going on now.
"We've released selected home sites including three where people can pick the model home plan on the site," said Kiel. "There's quality construction in all our new homes geared towards energy efficiency. We're excited to release these first homes."
The next project for Syncon is the Monterra community of 270 homes located next to Winhaven and Minden Elementary School.
Syncon Homes has been building homes in Douglas County since 1989.
"The board members in Minden have all been there a long time and they keep high standards," said Andy Mitchell, president of Syncon Homes. "They're focused and when things come in, they want to do it right."
