Two people were injured this morning in a head-on collision on Kingsbury Grade that closed the road for 2-1/2 hours at the height of Lake-Valley commuter traffic.

Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. John O'Rourke said the drivers of both vehicles were taken by Care Flight to Reno.

Their names and extent of their injuries were not immediately available.

O'Rourke said the patrol is investigating the "at-fault" driver for possible intoxication.

He said neither driver had life-threatening injuries, but the "victim" driver suffered broken bones.

The accident occurred at 7:35 a.m. about one mile up from the Valley floor. The road " which provides the most direct access between Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley " was closed until 10 a.m.

The accident is under investigation.
