Recently, the Carson Valley Art Association took a trip to the Nevada State Museum of Art in Reno. They were met by docent Colin Robertson who explained the various exhibits in the museum.
Most impressive was the 100 Chair Exhibit from a Paris collection. These were "one of a kind" chairs that were designed and built by outstanding architects and furniture designers from early 1900s to the present.
Although the CVAA members went to the museum to view the special modern art collection, they were impressed most with the chair exhibit. Tour guide Robertson was most knowledgeable in his description of each exhibit. He took the group of 20 members up to the roof where there were art sculptures and explained that each Thursday evening they have a musical group on the roof which is a popular event.
After the tour, the group enjoyed eating a delicious selection of food at the café in the museum. They stayed at the tables for an hour and a half eating and socializing. Some browsed and bought unusual items in the very interesting gift shop.
CVAA officers plan to include another tour in next year's schedule of events. For questions about the museum, call 329-3333.
