Watercolor workshop and oil painting class offered

St. Mary's Art Institute in Virginia City is a new venue for Mark Tompkins and Sonnie Imes, starting at 10 a.m. Sept. 22, with classes at 9 a.m. Sept. 23 and 24.

Tompkins will be offering a workshop in watercolor painting. The cost will be $195 per person for two days or $290 for all three days which will include dinner the first night provided by Imes and Tompkins.

Imes will present her beading class where students of her workshop will complete a necklace, bracelet and ankle bracelet. She will also offer a class in Oilpainting 101. Cost for the Sonnie Imes workshop will be $180 for two days and $270 for all three days which will include some materials for the planned projects.

Saturday night dinner will be a potluck so bring your favorite dish. The event will be a "sleep-over" at the institute and the only thing you need to bring is a change of clothing and personal items.

Imes will also be offering a Oilpainting 101 class at 88 Cups in the new Minden Village. Classes will be 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8. Cost will be $30 per three hour class session, $25 if you supply your own materials. There will be an artist reception at 88 Cups for Sonnie Imes from 4-6 p.m. Come enjoy the refreshments.
