The tickets are here now and a limited amount are still available for the annual Taste of Gardnerville which will be 5 p.m. Aug. 5. The Douglas County Historical Society has arranged new food tasting experiences for ticket holders and a variety of musical treats as people stroll the downtown area.
Tickets are $20 per person and are on sale at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville, Nelson's Take Five and the Genoa Courthouse Museum.
The restaurants will have a delectable selection of specialty foods for ticket holders to savor and sample. Various shops along the avenue will also provide curiosities for interesting browsing and will serve goodies as strollers visit their stores.
Music venues include The Shady Grove Coffee Co., JT's with Mike Maloney on guitar and Woodette's where Nancy Gault will be singing and playing guitar. Also, at the museum, Ben Crocker will be back with his popular one-man show.
Some restaurants offering tastings are The Overland Hotel and Bar, Nelson's Take Five (last year's overall winner), Shady Grove Coffee Co. (new this year), Sharkey's, JT's, Two Guys From Italy and Woodettes.
New this year in the parking lot at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center are food tastings by Panchitas "Killer Salsa," Full Belly Deli and Holy Grounds Coffee House as well as Port of Subs which has been with us every year. The museum will also have a full bar set up.
This annual fundraising event should not be missed. Families will enjoy this evening of food, music and fun. Supporting your local businesses and museums is important too.
