Two Carson Valley residents whose bodies were found in Lake Tahoe on Saturday were identified today.

Timothy Coleman of Gardnerville and Alex Haas of the north Valley, both 19, were found dead Saturday afternoon at Zephyr Cove.

According to Sgt. Tom Mezzetta of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, a passerby discovered Coleman's body along the shore about 500 yards north of the Zephyr Cove Resort Pier.

About a half-hour later, sheriff's patrol boat Marine 7 found Haas submerged in 8 feet of water about 30 feet from shore.

Mezzetta said a preliminary investigation revealed the pair arrived at the beach on Friday and their gear was found on the beach. It appears they were there for the day. It was found wet and investigators believe it was laid out prior to Saturday's rain storm.

Autopsies are scheduled for Monday.

"The investigation of these two deaths is continuing and additional information will be made available in the days ahead," Mezzetta said.

Coleman played football and Haas played soccer at Douglas High School.
