Ella Elizabeth Flewelling


1913-2006


Ella Elizabeth Flewelling, 92, died at her Fish Springs home April 27, 2006.


Mrs. Flewelling was born Aug. 1, 1913, in McKittrick, Calif., to Harry and Essie Lapoint. She was schooled in New England and graduated from Allan Hancock College at the age of 40. She was very active at the college, outstanding student with honors and student council. She married Mack Flewelling in Stetson, Maine. They moved to the Carrissa Plains in 1946. They lived in San Luis Obispo from 1950-1957. Moving to Santa Maria, Calif., until 1982 and then to Arroyo Grande to be close to her family. She was an assistant to the librarian, Majorie Bailey and Mr. Johnson. She returned home to care for her husband who died in 1981. She traveled the world with friends, loved to cook and read, loved family activities and prided herself in being the first to send Christmas cards.


She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings Grace Ruscoe, Eugene Lapoint and Lewis Lapoint.


She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Mary Ellen and Bob Padgett of Gardnerville; granddaughters, Tamra and Gunnery 1st Sgt. Eric Sheline of Coleville, Calif. and Debra and John Corey Hughes of Gardnerville; great-grandsons Logan and Garrett Sheline, Corey James and Zachary Hughes.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville.




Mary C. Oren


1948-2006


Mary C. Oren, 57, a two-year resident of Minden, died May 29, 2006, in Reno.


Mrs. Oren was born June 25, 1948, in Colorado to Charles Moorhead and Margaret May. She married David Oren, Dec. 21, 1969. Previously of Northridge, Calif., she was an AYSO administrator. She loved to paint and she loved her animals "King" and the girls "Sierra and Nevada." She belonged to AYSO Soccer and was an active participant, National AYSO Referee Development training. She was Jewish.


She is survived by her husband David of Minden; daughter Bethany Edeen of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; sons Shane Oren of Portland and Darin Oren of Gardnerville; two grandchildren, Samantha Edeen and Indiana Oren; mother Margaret May of Camarillo, Calif.; sister Nana Morris of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and two brothers Chuck Moorhead of Simi Valley, Calif., and Bruce Moorhead of North Hollywood, Calif.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. Cremation to take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
