The Carson Valley Pirates U12 soccer team has been enjoying a solid spring season. They've compiled a 7-6-1 record in Toiyabe League games.

Carson Valley competed in a Toiyabe mini-tournament recently and ended up taking second place.

The Pirates beat Carson Arsenal 2-1 and took down Carson City United 2-1 to advance to the championship match.

Carson Valley battled the Carson Desert Storm to a scoreless tie through the first half but Carson later pulled away for the victory.

"I'm very proud of this team," Pirates coach Travis Gregory said. "We have been underdogs all year. We are a combined U10-U12 team playing in a very tough U12 division."

Carson Valley's next tournament is this weekend at the High Desert Classic.

Pirates' players include Austin Beaty. Cole Bradley, Conner Bradley, Keaton Fitzhugh, Jason Griffiths, Luis Gonzalez, Mason Jackson, Cody Logan, Joseph Mejia, Emanuel Montoya, Tony Lomas, Jonathan Stamper and Ben Ziglar.
