The 2006 Boys & Girls Tiger High Intensity Basketball Camp is scheduled for June 26-29 for athletes in first- through seventh-grades.


Coaches this year include Douglas high head coaches Rob Streeter and Werner Christen, Andy Hughes, Aubrey McCreary of the Double-Pump West Coast All-Star Camp, Douglas' Randy Green, Joe Bertelone and Phil Emm, Chico's Bill Gibson and Bill Ballinger of the Reno Ballers.


All camp sessions will be at Douglas High School, running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9 a.m.-noon on Thursday.


A snack bar will be available for drinks, food, snacks and shirts.


Cost is $110 for those registered before June 12 and $120 for late or walk-up registration.


A camp T-shirt will be provided.

Coaches' dunk tank at Carson Valley Days


The Douglas High School All Sports Boosters will be dunking several coaches and staff members at Carson Valley Days Saturday.


Douglas football coach Mike Rippee, assistant coach Joe Andrews, freshman head football coach Mark Lilly and Douglas principal Marty Swisher will be at the tank in Lampe Park directly after the parade.


Other coaches taking turns in the dunk tank will be Kerry Munk, Lance Hartzell, Jay McFadden, Mike Dillon, Werner Christen, Jeff Evans, J.P. Albert, Ollie Herald, Lamont McCann, Tim Davis, Bob rudnick, Kenny Nicol, Bruce Jacobsen and John Glover.


Three balls will cost $2 and five balls will cost $4. Sports drinks and water will be available for purchase as well as Douglas Booster memberships and Douglas High Sports Passes. All proceeds go to supporting Douglas High athletics.

Pop Warner sign-ups open


Sign-ups for the 2006 Pop Warner football and cheerleading season are open.


Divisions include Tiny Mite (5-7-year-olds, 35-75 pounds), Mitey Mite (7-9, 45-90), Junior Pee Wee (8-10, 55-100 or 11, 55-80), Pee Wee (9-11, 70-115 or 12, 70-95), Junior Midget (10-12, 80-130 or 13, 80-105) and Midget (11-14, 95-150 or 15, 95-130).


Cost is $150 per football player with $20 for each additional family member. For cheerleading the cost is $85 per cheerleader plus a $210 fee for cheer uniforms, sweats and shoes.


A parent or guardian must be present for all athletes and a certified state-issued birth certificate, a 2005-06 year-end report card and current weight for the football player must be provided.


The final sign-up date is June 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Death Ride volunteers needed


Plans for the 2006 Tour of the California Alps - Death Ride are in full swing and volunteers are needed for the event.

Volleyball clinics offered


The Capital City Volleyball Club will conduct several summer clinics and summer leagues for girls in grades 3 through 12.


All clinics and leagues will be at the Silver State Athletic Center, located at 5680 Morgan Mill Road in Carson City.


The seperate three-day clinics will be run by Capital City head coach Dan McLaughlin, whose high school team at Whittell had won four state championships and by four-time national championship coach Steve George.


The all skills clinic will be July 21-23.


The setters and hitters clinic will be July 28-30 and the "Get ready for varsity" clinic will be Aug. 4-6.


Times for each clinic are Fridays 5:30 to 8 p.m., Saturdays 9:30-3 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 3 p.m. Cost for each clinic is $75.


Capital City will also be organizing and conducting summer leagues with players divided into age/grade levels third-fifth, sixth-eighth and ninth-12th. Leagues will run two nights per week from July 5 to August 11. Cost is $75.
