Several groups have organized to schedule a Father's Day clean-up on June 18 for the Pine Nut Mountains in the Johnson Lane area.
The Pine Nut Mountains Trails Association, the Motorcycle Racing Association of Northern Nevada, Western States Racing and the Sierra Stompers 4-Wheel Drive Club with the help of Douglas County and the Bureau of Land Management will be working to remove debris, trash, old cars and appliances from the Pine Nuts on that day.
The cleanup starts at 9 a.m. in the main riding area at the end of Johnson Lane about four miles east of Highway 395. Douglas County has made arrangements with Douglas Disposal to provide four large dumpsters for the event.
Organizers are also hoping to remove abandon vehicles and encourage anyone who has a car hauler or a way to lift the vehicles to join in the effort. Participants should bring gloves, truck/trailers, lunch, water and sunscreen.
For additional information contact Nate Littrell of the PNMTA at 215-1464 during the day, and 265-9936 in the evening.
