- Four teenagers have been implicated in the vandalism of six Valley churches, Douglas High School and some Minden apartments. Jonathan M. Walker, 19, is being held in Douglas County jail on felony vandalism counts. Two 17-year-olds, Ronald Bronk and Ryan Schuricht are facing juvenile counts. A fourth girl has not been identified. - An ordinance that would require applicants for an unrestricted gaming license to bring 200 hotel rooms along is being protested by the Town of Minden. Minden Town Board members said the new ordinance being proposed by the county is a direct shot at an effort by Slot World to renovate the C.O.D. Garage. Proponents defended the measure, saying it was in the works before the deal with the Carson casino was announced. Page A1

- Genoans will begin work cleaning up damage from the New Year's flood. Town board members approved a bid to clean up the damage on Tuesday. Page A3

- The 146th anniversary of the Pony Express was celebrated with the National Pony Express Association's Pony Express Re-ride across the country non-stop for 10 days. Riders were greeted Wednesday with fanfare in Genoa, including a talk about Snowshoe Thompson and free Genoa Court House Museum tours. Page B1

- The Genoa Home and Garden Tour stepped up its event this year with some of the visitors getting a lift from a surrey. Page B2

- Holden Sapp and Lauren Martin were named The Record-Courier's Athletes of the Year for their combination of sports and academic achievement. Sapp plays tennis and skis. Martin also plays ice hockey in addition to competing on the slopes. Page C1
