Two arrested in Tuesday night drug raid

Two people were arrested Tuesday night in a drug raid after a search warrant was served on a Minden motel room Tuesday morning.

Christina Basagoitia, 23, of Minden, and Robert Forseth, 27, of Minden were arrested at the scene in the 9 p.m. bust.

Basagoitia is being held on $250,000 cash only bail on four counts of trafficking and one count of possession of paraphernalia. Forseth is being held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

According to Sgt. Tom Mezzetta of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Basagoitia was arrested after several purchases of 1/4 ounce amounts of methamphetamine were purchased from her.

About 1/4 ounce of methamphetamine, scales and packaging material were seized when the search warrant was conducted by the Douglas County Street Enforcement Team along with Tri-Net conducted the investigation.

Trafficking may be punishable as a category B felony which carries imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum term of not more than 6 years and by a fine of not more than $50,000, according to Mezzetta.

"These arrests and the many other recent 'street level' arrests have been the result of Sheriff Ron Pierini's commitment to rid our community of illegal drugs and the associated crimes and life styles that accompany its use," Mezzetta said. "Sheriff Pierini reminds everyone, 'Drug Use Is Life Abuse.'"
