A 20-30 acre fire is burning on the side of Jobs Peak above Carson Valley.
The fire is located about a mile from structures in steep terrain about halfway up the hillside on the west side of the Valley.
According to Sierra Front Fire Information Officer Franklin Pemberton, the fire started sometime Friday and burned through the night due to high temperatures and low nighttime humidity.
Two helicopters, four single engine air tankers, a medium air tanker, a heavy air tanker and 10 hand crews were working on the fire as of 9:30 a.m. today.
The fire is located on U.S. Forest Service land.
Pemberton reports that access to the fire is difficult and that air and ground firefighting efforts will be to work the perimeter.
There is no estimate of when the fire will be contained or under control is available.
Pemberton said the fire is expected to be visible through tonight.
