More than 200 firefighters are close to completing a line around the Faye-Luther fire burning halfway up the side of Jobs Peak..
Three hand-crews spent the night on the fire line and will receive reinforcements this morning to finish a line that was 80 percent around the fire at 9 p.m. Saturday night. The fire is just over the state line from Nevada.
Firefighters expect to get the line completed by 6 p.m. today and to have the fire under control by 6 p.m. Monday.
Units from the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts, Reno Fire Department and the California Department of Forestry are fighting the fire.
Cooler temperatures overnight slowed the rate of spread of the fire, which was first reported to be 30 acres. The size of the fire was increased to 90 acres after Global Positioning System mapping from the air.
No structures are presently threatened. Foothill Road between Centerville and Fredericksburg roads is closed to all but local traffic. The Faye-Luther Trailhead is also closed. No injuries have been reported as a result of fighting the fire.
