Members of the Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation took charge of approximately 40 cats and kittens at a Topaz Ranch Estates home on Tuesday.
"There are 25 kittens we need to rescue and they need to have a place to go," said Minden resident Karen Chaloub. "The kittens will die if we don't get them out of this situation."
Chaloub is looking for volunteers to help support the animals once they've been rescued.
"We need to get the cats and get them cleaned up," she said. "They need some foster homes and people willing to help."
Chalhoub said the man was caring for cats which are often dumped near his home. She said the adult cats may find work as mousers.
"We have a waiting list for barn cats, but I don't think we'll have one after this," she said.
The group is also seeking donations to help pay for litter, food and neutering.
"We could just use volunteers, period," she said. "There is a lot of work to do."
Anyone wishing to help, should contact Chalhoub at 782-3754 or 750-8236. The Web site for Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation is www.tahoewarf.com.
