It appears Carson Valley missed the brunt of the lightning strikes, which set the 3,000-acre Linehan fire in Carson City.

But then it's hard to tell through all the smoke.

Smoke from the Carson fire, which burned through the night, filled the Valley with smoke this morning.

Today is expected to be similar to yesterday, with a red flag warning 1-10 p.m., according to the East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts morning report.

Should lightning strike, there is a 77 percent chance of ignition.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 30 percent chance for precipitation today and a 60 percent chance for Wednesday.

The Douglas County Republican Central Committee is holding an open house at its headquarters on Highway 395 near the Wildhorse Bar & Grill 4-7 p.m. today.

Refreshments will be served.

Night work continues on Highway 88 at County Road to build a roundabout. The project should be done in time for Douglas High School's fall semester.
