Several Carson Valley junior golfers have been enjoying a successful summer season on the Northern Nevada Junior Golf Association circuit.
In the boys' 13-14 division, Carson Valley has been particularly well represented as Greg Coleman won the recent Washoe City Junior event, shooting an 81.
Thomas Wicker took third place, shooting an 85.
The two, respectively, are the top two qualifiers out of Northern Nevada for the Nevada State Junior Amateur Championship in Las Vegas in early July.
During the opening week of the junior season, Coleman took third at Rosewood Lakes and Wicker took fifth.
Douglas High standout Troy Shields tied for ninth with an 80 at the Washoe event in the 15-17 boys' division. Shields' performance qualified him for the Big I Tournament later this summer.
On the girls' side, Bethany Wurster took third at the season-opening tournament at the Old Brockway, shooting a 52 in the girls' 13-17 division.
Heather Henderson took fifth in the event with a 57.
At Silver Oak last week, Henderson tied for first with a 47 while Wurster tied for third with a 51.
An event at Genoa Lakes has been scheduled for July 3 at 1 p.m. and an event at Carson Valley Golf Course will be July 6 at 1 p.m.
