Phoenix artist, Julie Gilbert Pollard, will be offering a three-day Watercolor on Watercolor Canvas workshop at Artistic Viewpoints Gallery and Studio, 1368 Highway 395, Bldg. B, Gardnerville today through Sunday.

A native of the southwest, Pollard was born near San Antonio, Texas, but grew up in Southern California. She has since lived in several states and has been a resident of Phoenix, Ariz., since 1979, at which time she was able to pursue a lifelong dream of a career in art. She and her husband of 12 years met at an art exhibit where she was showing and selling her work. They love to hike and scuba dive, with Pollard avidly photographing flora and fauna both above and below water.

"I love to paint on location (plein air) but that's not always possible," Pollard said. "The photos I take allow me to mentally re-visit the wonderful places I've seen and to paint them with authority and passion."

Pollard, who paints with oils and watercolors, has taught in both mediums since 1985. A frequent award winner, Pollard's paintings have hung in numerous juried and gallery exhibits. Her work is included in many private and corporate collections and is represented by The Richard Danskin Galleries in Palm Desert, Calif., and the Esprit Décor Gallery in Phoenix. Her work can be seen in the Carson Valley area at Artistic Viewpoints Gallery and Studios in Gardnerville.

Watercolor on Watercolor Canvas workshops are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The cost is $275 for all three days.
